We'll be coming from Albany NY and are looking for a place to stay close to the Brooklin/Bar Harbour/Acadia area. The wife and I went up as far as Camden last time, and would like to check out the sailing up a little further in a little more protected waters. We will be bringing our little skiff (see avitar) and would like to stay in a nice motel or cottage that doesn't cost a fortune, but is close to a nice place to launch and sail.
Might be interesting to stop by the WoodenBoat grounds as well. Wife says camping is out of the question.
Any suggestions?

Check the "Similar Threads" links below.
We really liked Winter Harbor, just across Frenchman Bay from Bah Habah. If memory serves, there are some cute cabins just outside of town on the road heading towards Birch Harbor. Don't know about launching facilities there.

Southwest Harbor, Manset, Seawall, Bass Harbor, etc. The 'quiet side'. Best place I know.

Most turists go directly from Boothbay across to Camden and by- pass Bristol and Muscongus Bay. Of course I like that a lot.
I have been living on the Maine coast since 1973 and know of no prettier place.
Look at the chart from E. Boothbay over to Port Clyde. Nobody there.
Take a close look up into the Damariscotta River and over into John's Bay and Pemaquid.
If you come after the 1st. week of August I've got a nice litle place to rent with a dock in the Gut at S. Bristol.

Grey Haven Inn on Georgetown Island was my favorite place to stay.

Try renting a cottage at this place:

We were there a few weeks ago, and the location is great, right on the water, away from the crowds of Bar Harbor, and a 10' drive away from Southwest Harbor, several public boat ramps close by.
We loved everything about the cottages and the area.
Have a good time in Maine,

If you get up to the Bar Harbor area, this is my cousin's charter

I actually haven't heard from him this season, so don't know how he is doing up there.
Have fun, Chris

the links don't work, webfoot. All I get is the main page.
