As mentioned in the thread re HMAS Sydney's life boats the lifeboat from the sunken German raider Kormorant, that came ashore on the west Australian coast after the battle is in a small railway museum in the remote town of Carnavon. Here is a photo of it.

Yep, the guy in the museum was saying that they were going to rebuild it - just hope that they do not destroy the original entity of it all.

It shouldn't be rebuilt. If they want to do that - build a replica instead.

You are right and in fact your remark has tipped me over the edge and I will actually do something about this, instead of procrastinating about it - I will write today to the Australian War Memorial who have the responsibility for all of this sort of thing.

The various plaques, photos etc on-site seemed sure of the identity of the lifeboat - perhaps the true test is expert perusal of the BXW photo - is this identical with the boat in the shed. Any opinions?
