After months of hard work, I finished putting a new bottom on the 18ft. outboard cruiser I am restoring. Like the original bottom, the new one is 3/8" plywood. I plan on fiberglassing it later on. And yes, I did the whole job with the boat sitting right-side-up. Here's to getting the toughest part of the job out of the way first!

The boat before restoration:

Thats a great looking boat! I love the style and at 18 ft. its alot easier to haul around than mine. I gotta keep my eye out for one of those beauties.
Your project looks very much like what I did last summer, only I was outdoors on the rough, wet, beer soaked asphalt....
Keep up the good work and post more pics as you move along.

Don't all boats look twice as big out of the water as they do in it?

Wood: Marine fir plywood
Goop: Sikaflex 291
Fasteners: Silicon Bronze screws

I'm thinking Kirby paint all 'round (except for varnish on cabin sides, windshield frame, and coaming), fiberglass on cabin roof and all decks, and a 4-stroke outboard on the transom.
