Hi, I am in the process of to some mechanical repairs on a boat i recently purchased. I think its a custom Hartley new tide song.

Does anyone know what the missing keel might have looked like? I am going to try and get a quote for one but i have no idea what it would have been setup like. LOA 33'

There is a dead wood keel from bow to about halfway then stops. I am guessing this was where it was ripped off. I am putting on a new stainless steel rudder with roughly same area coverage as the current rudder.

Hi Russell, I've had a look at the pictures of the Tidesong in my Hartley books but unfortunately they only show above the waterline. However there is a page on keel profiles for different speeds and yours would be around 35 mph. THe profile shows the keel angling back into the keelson just fo'ard of the shaftlog. With full deadwood your draft should be 2' 6".
Hope this is some help.

Hi wx, thanks for the reply. i posed this same question on ausfish forums and have had some interesting replies and one person posted probably what you found and image of the varying keels from a Hartley book.

Currently i am thinking this was the keel as intended and there was never any more aft keel at all.

I will probably make a better decision once its back in the water and i do some extensive boating in moreton bay and broadwater area. I should then be able to decide what keel might be of benefit to me.

certainly an interesting exercise in finding out more about my boat.

About the keel being it, I had that feeling as well. You will soon find out once you get her out on the Bay and open her up I guess...enjoy anyway.

Ended up completing the v-drive problems as well but the inside of the box is scored and will cause some noise when above 1500rpm.

I was looking for another box but had no luck.

so she is up for sale as i went and purchased another more suitable boat for wheelchair access(twin hull 10m)
