That's who I was talkign about should be the next meet the press person. Check out some of her other "controverisial" cuts. Although they are nothing less than rational coming from a level headed sane person. Unfortunatly she has taken lots of crap from the unrealistic, lying, cheating, irrational right. Including the white house.

ADDED: She gets around Iraq too. Unafraid. She's tough!

How did Italy's number two spy get dead?

06-25-2008, 12:09 PM
hey,,the surge worked. All that other stuff, it's not news anymore. Let Al Ahurra report it,,you know the $350million dollar Arabic speaking channel funded by Congress,,,they'll report it. Or maybe Al Jazeera. Or Fox.

CBS is its own media/advertising conglomerate, NBC is a component of GE while ABC is a component of Disney, all publicly traded companies. Why would there be such a stark contrast to the coverage of Vietnam? Why do these companies basically cover-up the war. For the administration? I mean, nobody can make those bozos look good, why try?
Lara is the chief foreign correspondent for CBS and she blisters her bosses.

What do they have to gain by not reporting this mess? Why are they doing this?

A bit of worthless, unrelated trivia - the three note signature tone that is immediately recognizable as the NBC logo tune (you know “ding, ding, ding” = "N B C" ) is made of the notes G, E and C – General Electric Corporation.

John, you do have good bits.

I think these companies are simply giving the customer what he wants. And the customer really doesn't want complicated or bad news that only involves a couple percent of the population. Never mind 26million Iraqis.

It's like the Apollo program, remember how the coverage plummeted with the last couple shots?
"yeah, yeah, but there's other stuff going on, there's this new program Star Trek, and Laugh-in"
TV is for entertainment and checking out. There's nothing entertaining or conducive to checking out about the occupation of Iraq and middle east complexities. It's just not entertaining. Which was the problem with Al Ahurra.

06-25-2008, 02:31 PM
The average time the big three news are carrying is two minutes of Iraq coverage a week in 2008. Way less for that other war we are in. Not that that is more important than what Lindzee Loham and Paris will be wearing on the beach this summer, but still...

TV has developed peoples expectation for information to be an entertainment experience.

If it's not entertaining, why bother?

Im on dial up- I cant see wtf is going on.It was a Youtube bit with Lara Logan Chief foreign correspondent for CBS on Jon Stewart's show saying that if she had to only see the watered down news we get, she'd have to blow her brains out.

To get this back on track:
