From the 'Bermuda Race' thread down in Misc Boat Related...

I don't know about Newport to Bermuda (maybe someday), but we just toasted the local fleet :D

As we jockeyed for the start, one of the carbon-fiber-go- fast boats yelled (in true amazement) "Even your blocks are wood." :rolleyes:

Fortunately (or unfortunately) I was overcome by a galloping case of the smart ass, and replied that they were carbon fiber faux finished to look like wood. :rolleyes:

Right now we're in cruising class, but we measured for a new mainsail today and as we perfect our game, we're going to move to performance class. And as I told David Gage, it might not be this season, but by next season, we'll practice and learn and keep trying and at some point the "Rock Star" will make a mistake and we'll correct over him. :D

Seriously. He's my target. And even more seriously, the local folks have snapped to attention. They're circling the wagons, which just tickles the crap out of me. :D The realization that we're challenging folks is a nice feeling. :)
