I have used this forum for a couple of years and received great advice or learned from the posts of others. Here are some progress pictures of my boat. It is a Snipe day sailer and I started with a boatbuilding course with Dan Lash in Egg Harbor WI and have slowly (very) continued ever since.

I can't tell from the pictures, is that new construction or restoration ? There are two snipes in my history. One was my brother's boat and the other is the "free boat" project that I have in the works. (Can't say in the shop since it's under a tarp, outside). Fun boats. Keep us posted on the progress, and don't worry about the "mess", there are times when I can't even see my floor.

This is new construction. Built from scratch.

That's not a messy garage. MINE is a messy garage. Right now the floor's covered in about 3 inches of sawdust/planer shavings, there are offcuts stacked all over the place waiting to be cut up for firewood and there's cardboard cuttings over all from a rush packing/shipping job yesterday.

It's gonna take me at least 2 hours to put it to rights.

Your boat is looking good! A very workmanlike job, from what I can see.

Two hours! It'd take me two weeks! :D :(
Nice job, Steve. Keep up the good work.

She is looking very nice! Are you planning to race, Snipes fleets are all over and it would be great to see how she does against the tupperware versions.....?

Not planning on racing, but you never know. I have a feeling that my boat is far heavier that the "Tupperware" versions.

You might be surprised Steve. The wooden Town Class sloops are lighter than the fiberglass ones.

Plastic Snipes are very heavy- the 505 sailors make fun of them for being so all the time- a wood snipe built out of 3/8 marine might even be too lite and need corrector weights. Check out snipe.org for the measurment rules. I'll bet you boat fits.

Nice project and the Snipe is a great boat. Wood is much better than the glass Snipes. You have boyancy on your side and wood sails much nicer than glass. I know, I have had both.

Keep up the good work, your boat will be a real eye catcher!
