I read that CPES origionates from concrete sealer , after doing a search I came up with this..... www.solvingconcreteproblems.com/everwoodinformation.htm (http://www.solvingconcreteproblems.com/everwoodinformation.htm) it sounds very similiar to CPES ?
I dont have a wood boat just a glass over wood cabin that is in rough shape with bare plywood patch's that wont be glassed for about 2 months so I would like something to help maintain what I have and still be able to glass over later.
Also this is my first post .I have been reading the forum for a while and it has been great.

"I have been reading the forum for a while and it has been great."
Welcome. I take it you've not been to the Bilge.
My opinion on the matter for what it is worth: CPES is a brew of solvents and epoxy derived from a wood source rather than petroleum base. It is designed to penetrate and seal damp and/or oily wood. From Smith's literature several years ago and what I've read here I've never hear it associated with concrete but why wouldn't it work. That said it is certainly not the same as EverWood, "a nontoxic, nonflammable, penetrating alkali activated silica aero gel." Will it do the samething as well as CPES? Will epoxy/glass stick to activated silica aero gel? I wouldn't risk it and wouldn't make the effort to experiment. Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances.

Do a search (upper right of the screen, under where it says Post A Reply). You'll get more information than you could ever want.

look for a moisture cured urethane (or MCU) on the net. To seal and protect for the moment, much better than any epoxy or solvent thinned epoxy...

Welcome,
Good to see more and more Alabama natives on this board. What kind of boat? What kind of repair situation you got?

I have searched and read all about CPES , there is a link in one of the post that says CPES origionates from concrete sealer.
Paul Oman , Thanks I will look into that .
for the other paul :
I have a 1974 40' eagle trawler , I believe it is the same as a marine trader . The cabin was origionally polester glass over ply which started peeling and the ply rotted .The previous owner started repairs (cutting out the rot and replacing with new ply) that is where it is at now . I have to rebuild 2/3's of the flybridge and reglass with epoxy. I will try to post some pictures
