I stumbled across this forum last night while getting more info on lead keel pouring and was surprised and excited to see how much interest there has been in the Wee Seal design.
I therefore thought some people might be interested to know that I am building one. I wrote to Iain for the plans in August of 01 and he said that if I was willing to wait he was going to completely redraw the boat. I think he has improved it considerably. It looks more authenticly Norwegian/ folkboatish than before even.
I began construction the end of last june when the mold patterns arrived and worked till the end of Aug.
This year, the weather has been very cold and rainy to this point. I'm working outside in the open unfortunately. Progress wise, the planking is complete except for a final fairing fillet on some of the laps and I've begun making the keel and deadwood. (and planning the keel pour).
Dale at http://www.alistego.com/ has been kind enough to put up a few pictures I sent him from the early stages of building. I hope to send him more soon.
I hope this may be of interest and encouragement to anybody contemplating building this boat.
