Skipping molds

I'm starting my second glue-lapstrake boat. The first was 11 feet and had three molds. This new boat is 14 feet and has 12 molds. There are no frames per se. Are all these molds going to be necessary? I was thinking two feet between molds instead of one would suffice. Any thoughts?

My thoughts mirror those of Mike. I design my own, so I can choose my own mold spacing. For thinner planking or more severe curvatures,I put the frames closer together. You don't want them so close that it limits internal access, but there was probably a good reason that the designer specified 12 molds.
