I'm wondering if there are kits available for building a sailing peapod. This would be my first crack at boatbuilding, so I'm thinking I would start easy. I've scoured the internet to no avail.

I've also contacted a builder in my area (Camden, Maine) to see if he'd be interested in guiding me along from scratch, but I have a hunch most builders would rather be doing other things.

Consider Doug Hylan's 13 foot peapod. It comes with instructions. I building one now and found it fairly easy to build. I hope to start painting in a week. My father and I build a boat from a kit 40 years ago. The kit came with instructions and rough cut wood. You still have to cut and fit.

Chesapeake Light Craft has their Skerry design. www.clcboats.com (http://www.clcboats.com) They use what they call "lapstitch" construction, which is kind of a faux plywood lapstrake, but it will give you the idea.
