OK folks, the virtual pub is going live (and live it is...).
Lefty & Carter's - Thursday June 26th -
Whenever to Whenever
And since SOMEONE sent out invitations saying I request your presence at the EBS :D, I guess I need to find out how many folks we (read THEY) can expect.
I'll be there and I'll be bringing St. Augustine shrimp :)
Carter - has Sir Richard RSVP'd yet??? I need to factor that in to what I'm planning to wear ;)
Who else?

I will be there virtually in spirit only, but will vicariously enjoy the likes of all of your detailed posts of the event. I have come out of hibernation, but not yet ready to travel. I have spent the last couple of years, offline and then lurking wondering if I dare dive back in these waters. It has gotten a bit contentious, I long for a more peaceful time.
The docs have sworn me off alcohol libations, so I have been existing on just tonic and lime as my "see thrus!"
Raise your glasses high and remember all of us who wish could be there!
Joe bring your laptop, (I know you are lurking about) so that those who know how can be there via video cam! Tabitha make sure he packs it!
For those that don't remember, I am the one who introduced Joe to Dove!
Sitting here in NE,NC jealous a heck, that I will not be with you all in Mystic!
Like Dingo, maybe next year!

Well Sharky........ The way this whole thing started out was that I was gonna make dinner for Phillip Allen, who is going to be (Poor bastad) staying aboard Airlie. So in theory, Jaime and Phillip will be coming from Mystic. On the other hand, no one's heard from Jaime in about a month so he may have forgotten all this and sailed off to points unknown. I think Mickey Lake has room in his truck, and I'm sure that at least 7 other people that I've never met that Margo has given invitations and directions to are coming.....;) I think R.I. Singer is coming.....Hugh Lane has indicated that he's coming.... You could always take the train to Guilford, and we could pick you up if needed..... Getting back won't be an issue.....
Give us a call and we'll fill you in on details.
Somebody tell me what to bring, please?
bamamick
06-12-2008, 05:43 AM
I will have room in the giant truck for three people besides myself, and I will need a navigator so of course Shark is welcome. Hopefully we can caravan because quite honestly road signs in yankee are almost always too confusing for me to read.

Minor problem for me.
SWMBO decided we'd come up a day early (I don't get a vote here) so that she can visit with knucklehead before he ships out to Afghanistan. This is usually just fine, but the Kid is not gonna be available until Thursday, which means I either won't be able to make the paahh-tay OR I'll need a ride from and to Groton so she has the vehicle.
Always something else at the last minnit, innit?
Since I already asked Carter & Lefty to send the hats, that's taken care of, but I'd hate to miss the EBS.
So: Anyone going my way?
You better go to that, Vince. It's your kid, no? But if you really don't think you need to be there I can chauffeur you. I'll be getting to Mystic to set up on Thursday and staying there for the weekend unless I camp at Lefty and Carter's Thurs. night.

Some of the photographers got quite sideways at this terrific, lavish and sumptuous bash!
Carter and Lefty put themselves out big time, with bags of oysters, clams, potables....cigars..... and some of the best pulled pork, ribs and steaks you could ever wish for. Delish. And ample booze to make you never want to hear the word R-U-M again, or at least for a day! Then we were forced to eat oozing, molten cakes and rich desserts. I will never eat again!

Doug and Carter, thanks for being such terrific hosts once again! We sure had a lot of fun singing along to all the old songs.
If you happen to step on a pair of glasses on your lawn or deck, they were probably mine. No biggy, just drugstore reading glasses. It was pretty funny, though, trying to download photos from the party to the computer, then resize them, then FTP them up to the website, then post them here, all while squinting through my little credit card sized OWL magnifier/lite.
Hope Carter wasn't suffering too much the day after.

Don't know them all, but here goes...
Backrow, left to right, Lefty, Hugh(man), Bamamick, in front of him is Kelly - new member Kasey's older sister, C.Ross (the tall one), Shark_ef in front of him in black, and in front of her is Vince with the lights on, on his Pub hat.
Not sure of the next woman, but the man in blue is Lew, then Julia and Russ, then Kasey (standing in red), Dan L (R.I.Singer) and his date (seated in red).
Seated on the top step left to right, Nancy(?) Bauer, Carter, Margo and Steven Bauer (with his two daughters in front of him), and I'm in the dark shirt with the camera up to my eye.
Seated on the bottom step, right to left Dave Tabor and wife(?)

That was definitely Vince. You can see all the fancy-work on his walking stick if you look real closely. Philip did attend, but not sure if he was there yet.
The dark shirt attached to the elbow in the back does look like the one Joe was wearing, but, I believe it was Joe who took this shot, so, not sure.

Looks like that picture of Carter was taken at half past Nod! :D Poor thing was working in Boston for a week, then Nairobi, Kenya for 3 days (that doesn't include 3 days in the air to get there and back) and then another 3 days in Boston before getting home at 12 Midnight the night before the EBS, and getting up at 6AM to help me prep for the whole thing..... No wonder she was a whipped puppy by 10:00....

Its her mug, she has a very good connection with Hunter yachts.
She has also been known to crew on a big red Hunter 50.

Yep. Guilty as charged. ;)
1. It is my favorite cup (actually quite good as it is insulated and has non-skid on the bottom :D) and
2. I figured I'd be the ONLY one at the WBS with a Hunter cup :p
And yes, Hunter Marine has been very very good to me (and SARAH.) They've been a client of my company (St. Augustine Boatworks) since 1997 and the decade+ relationship has blossomed into crewing opportunities on everything from a 1974 25' Hunter (one of their first boats) to brand new 49's and the HC50. There's also a 216 in the current stable and we took 1st place in the last Wednesday night series with it.
At this point, probably 80% of my sailing experience has come from crewing on Hunter boats in various regattas and on boat show deliveries.
Hunter's help / connections / introductions / business relationships / etc. were a large part of getting SARAH's engine and her launched last October. In the last couple of weeks, those connections helped with her instruments and standing rigging, and a new mainsail was ordered yesterday. :)
They might make FRP boats, but they're regular guys and gals just like us, and several of them have a soft spot for a particular Concordia. ;)

An excellent reason to return for Lefty's WBS EBS #3.

Not from what I've heard from a very reliable unnamed source. But if you want to continue to believe it you have less than 1 year before someone points out your error.:D

Wellll.... Since you offered .....
Why don't I go ahead and reserve both Friday and Saturday nights :p
Saturday would be my first choice, but if their special dinner speaker hoochy coo dinner deally bop is something really good like ... for instance ... Wooden Boats and the Red Heads that Love Them :) then I (I mean we :o) could have the Lefty and Carter EBS on Friday.
If Saturday's WBS dinner is something like "How to Make a Wooden Ferry Boat Out of Your Neighbor's Fence Posts" we can go with Saturday for the EBS :D
More importantly, it depends on when Carter is getting back from Kenya :D
