Boy, we're northbound on the Chesapeake, after leaving Hampton. Stopped in Deltaville, and then..we got our socks knocked off last night in a heckova blow around the Pautuxent or Potomoc..Seemed over 70 or 80 knots; dipped yards for an endless time in circles, trying to stay in the water, not the land. resting up in Chesapeake City, before pushing on towards the Hudson...

I read in the Washington Post that it was a storm for the record books. I hope you all are ok.

It were pretty incredible; we're alright, although shaken up soundly..Never had 'er over damned near on her beam ends before..We were glad for the new main topmast repair, and four steel shrouds on the main for easier re-stepping in the NY Canal System..sure happy we 'cheated', as it probably saved our main....after I'd bring her about, she'd run off six knots or so in a matter of seconds....
Yeah, some intense weather here Wednesday. Glad you're okay. When are you getting underway again, Gary? We'll keep an eye out for you as you head north - maybe snap a pic or two if our timing is right ...

The whole area was under severe weather watch and tornado watch Wednesday.
Even in WV we had the kiddies cowering under their school desks when it got upgraded to a 'tornado warning' status around 2:00.
I was watching the storm online, and it looks like it would have hit the whole length of the Chesapeake later in the afternoon.

We're already 30 nm out of NYC, b ut we'll be back thru the Chesapeake in early to mid September for the Grand Tactical War of 1812 in St. Leonard's, MD.....gonna stop in Kingston, NY, and then unstep and go hide in the canals for a few weeks to repair, repaint, and fish!
