Mike,
I've purchased the Delvin Snowgoose plans, and after reading the literature he talks of making a cradle to build the boat in. Looking at the specs for it, it seems that 4"x8" timbers for the skids is a bit excessive. The rough cradle sketch is for a much larger boat. What kind of cradle did you build for the Honker you built? Do you have pics? Why isn't delvin more clear on this?
I'm also a little confused about the "transition" from the sides being along side the bottom, to the sides on top of the bottom. He indicates that a notch be cut in the bottom plank to make the transioion, but where exactly is this transition?
Thanks,
otterbfishin

The literature your refering to is a generic description he includes with all plans explaining the basic concept of stitch and glue, the transition your refering to is what occurs on a typical boat with a "stem" where the side and bottom are drawn together at the bow. Your design is not constructed in that manner and will not be of any concern to you.

Again the cradle he shows is just a basic cradle that could be used for many of his plans, its just a rough guide and is to be modified for different designs.

For your boat you could use the plywood cut-offs from the frames and transom to create a very sturdy cradle and it would fit exactly.

Sams book is very good in explaining the construction method and is full of details and tips. If you go to his site and bring up the Honker I built there are some construction photo's there.
