Looking for running rigging for the Bristol. Is there a good source ready made for production boats?
Pressed for time to get the boat in the water.

mostly it's a do it yourself proposition....Defender Industries is good.

It was mentioned to me a while back that a couple of outfits did boats to order. I was a bit nervous thinking someone may have modified the rig over the years. Good time to learn how to splice, I can wing it with a book but never looks as good as the pros.
All the rigging is there and looks basically serviceable at least to run her around the coast nearby. Kind of waiting for Gareth to get back and advise.

Like Pete Culler once famously wrote, "Experience starts when you start doing it." or something like that...
Don't worry about it not looking like the pros, Tyler. Get a book or two (Ashley's has some of the best instructions.) Just do it. After the third or fourth splice, you'll start turning out work that will look like a pro did it. Guaranteed.

3 strand splices aren't too hard. I haven't had any need to do a braided line splice, but I don't imagine it'd be too much more difficult to figure out.

Go to Brion Toss's web site and buy his DVD on splicing. It covers 3 strand, double braid, and 10 other types of increasingly exotic ropes. Reading instructions is one thing. You can download instructions for free from the Samson Ropes web site. But, being able to watch Brion's hands as he makes the splices is well worth the price of the CVC. Brion's verbal instructions are also very helpful and his dry sense of humor is entertaining.
Several years ago I needed to make a large number of eye splices in 3/4" double braid. Brion's DVD made it entirely possible. Until then, I had stuck with 3 strand rope because I was scared of the double braid. Amazing how having to do something makes it easier to learn. I have since taught the double braid eye splice with some success.

If you haven't the time I highly recommend an outfit in Fairhaven MA called Rigging Only. Their price and service cannot be beat.
