Having trouble fitting garboard and other planks. The "new" precut mold stations supplied with the kit, although a joy to set up, are different from the plans supplied. The planking supplied doesn't seem to want to lay on the "knuckles" mentioned in the plan directions... I'm reluctant to fasten garboards using just the fore and aft transoms as guides. Anyone been here? Would appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience.

Double check the positioning of the transom cleats. If they are off even slightly, it will create big problems. Also double check the measurements of your jig with the plans. With all due respect to our hosts, kits can occassionally be off a little.

At our boatbuilding classes we have built Nutshell Prams from scratch, and have not used a kit. So can't comment on the accuracy of the kit parts. As Scott says, first check the measurements of the jig and the planks. Pay particular attention to the dimensions of the bottom plank. If it's not just right, you'll have trouble with the garboards and that will transfer to the other planks. If they check out, then set the planks on the jig as per the station marks. If they don't fit, try moving them slightly fore and aft, until the plank edges meet the knuckles on the jig. If the planks are a bit too wide, you don't have a problem--just mark them at the knuckles and do the appropriate planing. If the planks are too narrow, you can either buy some more plywood or ask WB for replacements.
