I've been putting this off, not wanting to jink the good news.

Ross has now been examined by a totally different medical team, and given a very different diagnosis and prognosis. It's still a cancer of unknown origin, but it is primarily a doughnut shape around his esophagus. He was taken off hospice treatment, has been in a cancer treatment ward for the last two weeks, and receives his fifth beam radiation treatment today. Tomorrow or Friday he will be going back home again, with daily physical therapy coaches to help him over the two months in bed. Monday or Tuesday they're going to decide on whether to do surgery first, or chemo first, depending on how much the tumor is shrinking. He's making his own blood now, has not had a transfusion in over a week.

"Very good prognosis" was the shorthanded phrase used.

Explanations of the previous situation have not been offered.

Thank you all for your prayers and messages.

Good news to hear. We will keep him on the prayer list at church.

Try to not let yourself get rundown. It is hard but you will be a much better help to Ross if you aren't in the ditch.

That's really great news... the fact he's again making his own blood is a MAJOR step forward.

All the best to him, and as others have said, don't forget to look out for yourself as well... you can't help out if you're in crummy condition!

JD, all too true...and we ain't gettin' no younger, neither.
