I predict Marco, just shy of 227.00 mph.

I'd like to see the young Rahal up there too, but its not a place that treats rookies kindly on pole day.

I would not be too shocked if Marco managed pole, but if the family luck follows its usual course Dan Wheldon to win the race.

Oh heck no! These are really smoking bodies going round fast. Not some slack chic spinning for dollars....

I was hoping Paul had started this thread by the time I got back home. Thanks Paul.

It looks like the genetics are working for Andretti and Rahal. Dixon is on the money today. Danica was saying earlier that she thought there was some more speed in the car and wasn't sure that they wouldn't go back out.

Well the Kiwi pulls it off! And the quick chic starts in the middle of the second row.

Yes, congratulations to the Kiwi nation!

Not a bad race. Wasn't all that I had hoped for, but it held my interest nonetheless. Lots of rookie mistakes today, collected a few veterans too.

Very glad to see the two series back together, now if we could just get a few engine manufacturers and chassis manufacturers back in the mix I'd be delighted. Oh... and turbos... bring back the turbos please!

Security - we have a very angry lady on pit lane...

She couldn't have been that mad. She didn't have the visor down.

Congrats to the Kiwis this year! Well done!

OK, so what's with this "Grey upper perimeter paved with Rubber "pebbles"? Almost every car that drifted high had trouble with it, and a few had serious trouble. Think maybe they' ll pave the area conventionally next year?

I hope everyone who thinks Danica can't drive got a load of her extended discussion with her pit crew, while entering a corner at 200-MPH.

But she had a "slow" car, so better luck next year. No complaints with the endgame frontrunners nor the winner here.

I don't know whether it will show up on the BBC iplayer, but tonight on one of their channels there has been a succession of programmes about motor racing.Preceding these there was a comparison between Donald Campbell and Chuck Yeager.Followed by a profile of Graham Hill, who remains the only man to have won a Formula 1 championship,Indianapolis 500 an Le Mans 24 hours.Of course next month Jacques Villeneuve will get a chance to repeat this trifecta. The programme I am watching while posting this focuses on the rivalry between Art Arfons and Craig Breedlove at Bonneville.Worth seeking out any or all of these if you have an interest in rapid travel.

Thanks for the heads-up, John. BBCA seems to be running something of a Top Gear marathon this evening.

Is it this program that he's talking about? My Sat. Guide doesn't say.

Unfortunately, I do not think so. Usually a decent program in its own right, though.
