Well, we are down to four days to finish our H28 "Bright Star" before we put her up for inspection on opening day at BYC in S. Cal. Five of us are all working like crazy to get her done. Pictures will come when we are able. Even after three years, there is a ton of work to be done. There are halyards to splice, booms to be fitted, more varnish work, and engine to be prepped for show, sheets and tackles to splice, a bilge pump to install, plus stantions, life lines and pulpits, nav lights a radio antenna and a lot of nit picky things do be done. Fortunately every one is qualified for doing the work. Two guys are licensed skippers. Amazing how help comes out of the woodwork when the mention of splicing the main brace is made. I am in charge of grog. So if any one who is in the area of Newport Beach wants to drop in on Saturday the tenth at Balboa YC we would be happy to see you.

For grog, you can't beat "Hi Time" in Costa Mesa. Just remember that place Jay. They have the most amazing rum collection of any place I've ever been. Prices are good too. Good luck, and remember to provide the grog AFTER the work is done!

Hi Larks,
Three of us mounted the pulpits, stancions and life lines all in ten hours. I forgot a few little things like saftey wiring the anchor chain shackel and the darn dividers. We arrived seven hours late and exhausted but were in our slip on the morning of the show. A few of the gliches I mentioned kept us from taking best of show. That honor was won by a four year old fiberglass power boat. We did take first in Vintage Boats and considered that to be a great honor. We supplied ten gallons of Rum Punch that was all gone by eight bells in the afternoon watch. All had a great time! It was a kick to see nine people sitting comfortably in "Bright Star's" cockpit enjoying the party. I am just down loading some pictures.

We worked almost all day and night the day before the show. Three of us mounted the pulpits and stantions in just ten hours. But got it done right by bedding the plates down in torch down skin that was first heated with a heat gun. Dolfinite was sandwiched both sides of the skin. Some places were inaccessable for through bolting. So we used Rosan Treaded inserts which, worked very well.
We arrived the day before the show in the evening rather than in the morning and were still splicing and reeving lines just prior to inspection. The enthusiastic visitors consumed ten gallons of rum punch and nothing was left over! At one time we had nine people sitting comfortabley in "Bright Star's" 38sq. ft. cockpit! Every body had a great time and we won first in class. First over all was one by a four year old fiberglass power boat.
I am down loading some pictures now.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I down loaded the pictures to my normal service, Shutterfly and came up with a glitch. Although the pictures were accepted, the transfer process does not work as it has in the past.
Essentially attempting to open the new album results only in a rotating icon and the words please wait. This has been going on for half an hour. Any ideas would be appreciated.
