How would the Atkin design , Mr. Simm, serve as the basis for a motor sailer? How much sail area would be practical , from 50-50 to 80-20, power to sail? Maybe just steadying sails. I am aware of changes to the original plans by Blanchard boatyard years ago.

Pic from the Atkin site........you're not going to spoil a perfectly good cabin cruiser with sticks and string are you?

I know that pic is on the site but I have read that is not the correct pic. The run seems too flat, no transom rudder, different pilot house. The hull lines look like a decent hull for sail assist ,motorsailing , very much like some Alden motorsailers I have seen.

Further research has answered my question. The motor sailer Barnacle was built in 1932 at the Blanchard boatyard. It was based in Mr. Simm only two feet longer.
