I am contemplating building either Sweet Pea or Spur II. In Boats with an Open Mind, Phil Bolger writes Sweet Pea was disigned so it could be rowed safely while standing. He goes on to write Spur II is just as sea worthy, but doesn't specifially write it can be safely rowed from a standing position. Due to an occasional back problem, the abillity to row while standing does have appeal, but other criteria would lead me to favor Spur II. Does anyone know if Spur II can be rowed from a standing, forward-facing position?

You might want to post your question on the Phil Bolger discussion group . . . .

Baack to the topic, eh? I'd be temped to ask for more info about the rowing -- totally flat water or ? I've seen some fairly large boats rowed standing, but they need to be stable, and the rowers sometimes lower the centerboard if the water is rough.
