Is there any way of tightening woven bamboo cane in a chair bottom with out removing it?

The only thing I can think of to try is to wet it well & let it re-dry, probabably won't do to much but worth a try. For wetting it I'd turn the chair upside down with the seat on a flat surface, lay some old towels on the underside of the caning & thoroughly wet the towel with warm to hot water(to the point of puddling), let it sit for a at least 30 minutes. This is what I do when I'm in the middle of caning a chair & need to loosen things up to continue. (If this is a good chair be careful to check that the water won't stain/damage the finish.)
