Hi All,
It is a long time I haven't been around here. Just to share some pics of the 20' teak sandwich core I was doing. Actually not doing myself, but leading the team.
To shortly describe what has been done:
Keel: heavy yellow balau
Hull: all burmese teak laminations (2 layers). All components epoxied before lamination ensuring no water can go from one stripe to another.
All inner and outer part have been:
1 west epoxy 207
1 cloth 107 gsm
4 west 207
All exposed parts have been protected from UV by an extra 9 PU 2 components lacquer
Under water line, an extra 200 gsm cloth.
After 20,000 hours this is the result. 20,000 hours sounds a lot, but this was a prototype we did w/o drawings and had to adjust a lot of things. Even though, there are no defect. There have just been some additions such as lamination of ribs,...
Note that some timber stripes show different colors. It is either due to the timber itself that anyway gets much more equal (darker) after it gets some sun exposure, or due to the grain reflecting flash differently (as picture of bow).
Now looking for a mega yacht owner to cash out some 45-70,000 US
Enjoy the pics:
