We had a great day for Salty Pup's launch. I started the build in June 2007. Many in attendance so I had to put on a little show - you'll see later. Good thing I included a bailer in the "ship's stores."

I'm trying to post some videos of my near capsize. I filled the boat half way on my very first jibe. Wind was 10-15 with gusts above. The creek is narrow so the water doesn't really show the wind. I quess I had a feeling because I put my wallet and cell phone in the truck and I had the bailer in the boat. She really has great speed under sail.

Well, the Scots are infamous for regular bathing from the historical English "water will kill ya" perspective...so it fits right in with the colors.
Congrats!

Excellent job, you are going to love this boat for sure. The sail looks very good.
Did you sew the sail yourself ??

Great to see Bill, loved the vids, sounds like they were all having a few laughs at your expense through the bailing stage though.. :D
You had a few good bailers left on shore mate, why didn't you conscript them?

Thanks for the comments. The name is Salty Pup. The sail is from the mothership - WB. I had all of the kids out in the boat sailing and rowing - which surprised me after what they had just seen.:) A few adults out rowing and one of my friends was bold enough to put the sail up and that was nice for me to watch her under sail. (a little bragging here - He came back and said he thought it would take a Laser. Well of course not, but it's nice to hear things like that.:)) Oh, and I was the only one that had to bail her dry that day.

Where did you launch in Charleston? (What/where's that marina in the distance?)
I used to live on James Island.

Congratulations on a very nice looking boat! I don't think I'd have the gronicles to post the near capsize vid:eek: I loved the comment about how much bailing to film:D They all sounded very proud of you...and they should be.

I think this boat is going to be as fun to use as it was to build. Took her out today and did some more sailing lessons - my kids and their friend all 6 or under and able to hold sheet and steer.:D

Nice job all the way around: the build, the launch and especially surviving the first jibe! Thanks for the pics and vids.

Looks very nice - and also very familiar - I built mine about 10 years ago. Congratulations on a fine build and a great launch.
