We're on the schedule for a Thursday relaunch, after a reasonably good haulout. Bottom looks good everywhere, only about ten feet of collective recaulking divided between four seams; pretty good considering the number of hard hits against a pier in Qubec last year during a huge blow...I installed a compatible bronze transducer for our sounder, discarding the quick bow mount we had. Replaced all of the old parts on the gearcase that blew up in Oswego, and the starter should be done today for a fresh rebuild. We did away with the temporary large eyebolts that were securing the bobstay from the dismasting on Lake Champlain, replaced with a large, 3/8 x 3"x 29" stainless plate secured with five six inch by half lag bolts slathered in epoxy..On a cheat arrangement, I installed flat chainplates on four corners of my main behind the chains for the deadeyes; conceptually, we'll be able to stablize the rig quickly by making steel shrouds on four corners until we get the lanyards all workwize on the shrouds and ratlines after canal transits..not quite 'period', but safe, eh?...Small repairs on our Skipper head today, then minor engine room tweaking until launch..Meanwhile, back at the seaport, I have to make a new main topmast, and do some repairs on both main yards, erect them, make ready all sails, and this before the Wooden Boat Show in Beaufort on May third.......

And people wonder why privateer Captains used to press crew while refitting?

;0 )

Best of luck!

I hate to double post, but I also dislike editing, so..I failed to mention the results we've had on hauling out here in the Jarrett Bay Marine Complex. This is our second haul here, and I cannot recommend them as anything bit fantastic..We physically use Core Creek Marine, but the Jarrett Bay folks are spectacular. Always friendly, more than competant, should you need it done for you instead of dyi...I'm most likely going to haul here again in the fall, mostly to have her on the hard during the last of hurricane season while I head north, roof my house, and then west for more decisions on S/V Orca..If you are anywhere on this continent, and need work, think of Jarrett Bay Marine...And if you are into fiberglass, they produce one after another of 70' plus 'Sportfishermen' for 7 mil or so....
