My son designed and build this priogue from scratch.
No plans , with just a little help from dad.
Plywood, PL premium glue, expoxy and fiberglass.
He learned how to do most of this stuff by helping me build a Woods design catamaran. (still building it :))
He loves it ...and I am proud.

This one was built for the kids and he still uses it. I love the paint job the kids did on it.

If you want images to display in these web forums, I recommend using www.picturetrail.com (http://www.picturetrail.com) or other web photo hosting service that allows direct links.
Nice boats!

Lookin good . Another NA in the making. :D A Pirogue must be the most fun for the time and effort to build one. I hope you post some of your adventures with one ........... but why the motor? Stealth demands paddles.;)

Nice work done by a kid :)
That fierce looking paint job must've scared all the fish away:D

Oh, I get it. Pirogue is Basque for "terrifying attack paddle boat"!
Nice project. Congrats to the kids!

I would call it a "skiff" or a "bateau"...
I didn't want hurt someone pride:o
It's a long way from being a "pirogue"
Still the kid did fine..

Whatever it is, that project would make me a proud dad, and I bet they'll have a ton of fun in it! Just wait until Dad is done with the cat, and they retrofit their boat with lee boards and a tarp rig!
(Larry, what makes a pirogue different from a skiff or bateau -- seriously, you're an expert on that and I'm curious....)

He loves using the trolling motor. They use it both on the skiff (with the teeth) and the pirouge. He actually designed it so that he could hook it up and put the motor on the boat and a special battery area. Has removable seats and all. Only problem is not that he has a engine on it I have to register it with the state. Game warden got him last week..but did not write him up for it. Thankfully he had his fishing license and all. Just the boat was not registered. Gathering up all the paperwork this weekend to send in. Till I get that stuff in he has to paddle :)

A canoe made from a hollowed tree trunk; a piragua (Spanish).
A cajun canoe, double ended flat bottomed vessel..
Lewis and Clark traveled up through here in pirogues..
Only expert I am about it.. Is that I enjoyed building them to perfection.. I just like 'em.. The way they behave on water, it's amazing..
Standing up in the midship, poling along in 2 or 3 inches of water under me.. not many boats will do that..
Here is a link that describes it better than I can...
http://www.pirogue.com/article2.htm
With one end being flat for attaching an outboard would been called "cajun skiff" I made few of those too..
Man, they are quick with low horsepower outboard.. anything bigger than 5 hp is a overkill and dangerous..

You've almost got picasa linking down. Just need to select the larger image size in the dropdown box before copying the text.
You used this: http://lh4.ggpht.com/chill3570/R_6Q9L95DWI/AAAAAAAAAFE/usB1OGQFG3Q/s144/DSC00959.JPG
But it should look like this:
