Hi Guys-I am off to a meeting in Seattle week of 14-18 April. Like most of us I am wooden boat addicted (as a builder and a sailor) and will have some time to explore for several days. I will be right at Lake Union to start, I know center for WB, etc; but will be interested in other projects afield. I will need to be up to Bellingham/Anacortes and could make the run around to Pt Townsend. Any suggestions out there for some "must see" projects? I would be interested in the status of such vessels as Varua, and Oceanus, and is anything happening with Acadia? (the last not wooden) Any other projects or events over in PT? Thanks for the info/JC/Bob Wallace

There's that Martha schooner rebuild going on in Pt. Townsend. Search the forums for the thread on it.

On the way into PT when you get to the traffic light at the bottom of the hill by the Safeway, turn right into the boat haven - be sure to have plenty of time to explore. BTW, the cops in PT radar occasionally and 30mph or 20mph means just that.

Be aware IF you plan on taking the Keystone/ Whidbey - Port Townsend ferry it MIGHT be a issue. One ferry only and today it was down hard for a generator problems. I didn't hear any reports either way as to it's tomorrow / current status. Just something to check on when your here.
More than likely when your here it will be running "normally" , although we're not sure what "normal" is with the current state of WSF system issues.
I just noticed you might be planning the trip over to PT while on the Anacortes part of your visit. Meaning using the Keystone / Whidbey ferry.
Oceanus was on the hard in storage in a lot to the south and east of downtown Anacortes until the last couple months. Can't tell you where she is now, but if you ask around you could probably find out.

Lots going on in Seattle. A yard tour should include Jensen's, CSR Marine (on the ship canal) and Canal Boatyard, none hard to find. Start at Jensen's. If you need more details, fire away. Other yards where interesting projects may be cooking include Seaview East and Dunatos, but the first three I named are the main wooden boat yards. Bigger projects are to be found at Delta Marine on the Duwamish River.
