I hop my friend doesn't mind me showing off her letter...she sends it round to all her friends like a family letter anyway...

Hi friends family and yachties
We left Myrtle Beach this morning in pouring
rain!!!! Luckily it was not cold!!! Had rain most of
the day and you yachties know what that means!!! A
damp boat and lots of wet clothing.
We decided to stop at Sothport marina for the
night,it is about 13 miles south of Carolina Beach.
could not make Carolina Beach as we planned.
Stopped here at 4.15.
Got a map from marina office, started walking to
the convenience store. Really just wanted some
fresh carrots and cabbage. Of course we were out of
luck, no fresh veggies at the convenience
store!!! Saw a car at gass station pump, the guy had
just finished fulling his car, a very smart 2
seater, black and shiny with his very attractive wife
on passenger side. Asked him where the nearest
store is where we can get fresh produce. He
explained it is very far away and also apologised for
not having room in his car else they would have
taken us there. He then insisted I give him a list,
said they will go to Wallmart then drop stuff off
at boat, said he also have a boat in the marina.
Well we gave him a very short list, did not want
to take advantage of his kindness. Gave him $20.
We then came back to boat and within an hour the
guy was back with our veggies and change!!!
Just imagine giving money to a strange person in
South Africa, you will never see him or the money
So that made the day for us!!!
Had a very hot shower, have to sit outside
fueldock office to do mail, no lounge here. Spitting
wih rain again!!!
Going to have a good nights sleep, hoping to get
to Mile Hammock tomorrow, June you will know
where that is!!!
Keep well all of you, who knows when I will be
able to do mail again!!!
Kind regards

she's been delivering yachts for years...across oceans. I don't know what boat she's on now but her personal boat is a 30 footer which she lives on. She is a tough lady, has an axe handle for a tiller and I'm damn proud to know her!

'nother instalment from my friend...

Hi family friends and yachties
Well here we are again, sitting in a marina
waiting for the weather to improve. Have been doing
that a lot lately!!!
The last few days have been really bad. Rain and
more rain. Yesterday we had rain non stop! It was
so bad when we called the bridge on Alligater
river for a bridge opening he said he could not see
us. Asked powerboats that also asked for an
opening if they saw us!!! Luckily they did and we
were able to get a bride opening.
We were planning to leave early this morning as
light varible winds were predicted till this
afternoon when winds would be Northerly and strong!!!
Really wanted to get across the Alberman sound
before tomorrow as there are going to be
Northerlies blowing for the next few days.
There is another guy here on a 27ft boat, has
been here for 4 days!!! We tried to leave this
morning at 7 am, Vince followed uson his boat.. But
15 min out and we had to turn back!!! The wind was
Northerly, not predicted!!! We were bashing in
to the waves and only managed to do 2 knots!!!
Decided to turn back as it would be worse on the
Albermar sound.
So here we are, waiting in Alligater river
marina. No shops nearby, nothing here but they do have
a nice tv lounge!!!
Not evev a signal here for our phones!!!
At least it is not raining but it is overcast and
So thats the latest news, hope you are all
keeping well and warm!!!
Kind regards
