Does anyone know anything about this? It was recently used as a bare wood primer on the bottom of a friends boat, proposed by the yard. Two coats were applied.

How that is going to work in the long run I don't know, but it is the only epoxy impervious to water, from what I hear. One can see the attraction of this as well as problems, with much depending on the original construction and condition.

http://www.epoxyproducts.com/coaltar.html has some basic info on it. Does not sound like a durable material, although may serve as a sort of bottom paint, I suppose, coal tar being a biocide of sorts.
