I look like acquiring free a 16ft FG canoe along with some stuff I want. I propose installing 2 wooden bulkheads a saw-cut apart at one end, slicing through between them so I can fit a small outboard on the stub end. But! I intend to keep the discarded piece and make a fitting so I can re-attatch the discarded piece. What say you?

I say just make a scanoe out of it and let it go at that. Make the transom purty and everyone will love it...

A motor bracket

would be easier and more structurally sound.

That's an Idea, This canoe is likely to be a wreck so I can have a bit of fun with it. I even thought of making a motor well in one end but you couldn't tip it up for shallow water, unless you tipped the whole end up? Think Thorne's post is the way I'll go finally. Not sure I'll keep it either, no room!

You might want to make some kind of steering and throttle apparatus too. It's an uncomfortable contortion when the motor is directly behind you and you can't hardly sit sideways. That way you can sit forward where the canoe will trim better and just sit on the bottom, propped up by cushions, close to the cooler.
