It's a vine that's climbing over some other crap that I have to remove. It's pretty and Tonya says it smells nice(I'm sick and can't smell anything). So- before I get rid of it- what is it?

forsythia Don't you have it there? It's not really a vine although it will sometimes twine around things. It's best as a bush. Just trim it back to control its size and wait two years, it'll bloom again. It blooms on the 3rd years' growth, so if you cut it way back and leave no green stem you'll get no flowers for a couple years.

Around here people take a hedge trimmer to it, plant it in rows and trim it to shapes for fun.

It's green all summer.

That's what I said but Tonya is the plant person around here and she says no.

Well, I googled a couple of characteristics and came up with a dead end. The shiny leaves aren't right for the common forsythia I have around my area, and my leaves have a serrated edge as well.

But there are hundreds of varieties of forsythia and so I still suspect it's that.

If a man says something and a woman doesn't hear, is he still wrong?
