Do you know anything about the five masted auxilary schooner Marienborg, originally named the Tacoma. She was built somewhere on the American west coast in 1916. She later ended up under danish ownership and was renamed the Marienborg.

She run aground in 1924 at Västerbådan, west of Tankar, which is off Karleby on the western coast of Finland. She could not be refloated so she was sold on wreck auction to Igor Sandman, a local businessman. He had her cut up on the reef.

Parts of the wreck can still be seen.

I'd love to know more too. Any pics?

My father took some pictures of the wreck in the 70-ies.

There are also some pictures of the breaking process in a book I have. They worked on the ice during winter and used a Fordson N tractor and a sled to haul the equipment ashore.

I cannot scan the pictures since I have no scanner.
