I saw this pop up on craigslist yesterday - no personal connection to the sale, but I am somewhat familiar with this boat.

Well, all things considered that's a pretty good price on that boat. I know that insurance and dockage can be a real drain on a person's income. Maybe that's an explanation? She's a nice looking boat for someone.

Teak Deck replaced with fiberglass
I wonder what that means

Remove the teak. Replace the Chinese plywood with a nice brawny 5/8" man-sized piece of AA Douglas fir -what spawns legends- and smear on the glass. Violin! Ya got a keeper.

I guess you could just spend a couple of hundred bucks *rolls eyes* on some new teak and Detco to cover that wholesome plywood.

"Teak deck replaced with fiberglass".

Actually, it means the previous owner (who had a heart attack and died offshore while sailing solo from Seattle to Mexico a year ago on another boat, but I digress ...) put a ply/fiberglass overlay right on top of the existing teak. From what I understand, he did a decent job of it, but it is what it is. I've heard the engine installation initially had some complications, but that it has been pretty well sorted out. Also heard she leaks a bit while underway - not sure what that's all about. I knew the previous owner; I don't believe the current owner uses her much, if at all.

Wow, you should take everything down to the deck beams when you replace a deck. Leaks? Frame heels, garboard fastenings, heck, they're copper riveted teak on some kind of oak or ipol. Dang ...just pound some cotton into it and buck-up them rivets, Harlan.

Yeah, I'd be very wary of that deck! But for that money, if the rest of the boat is basically sound, it could work out OK.

Nice boats.

FWIW, I know the previous owner sailed her from Maryland to Florida and back a few years ago. He said his only real issues were with the engine, which has since been replaced. Seeing him redo his deck got me thinking about doing that with mine, but I wound up taking it down to deck beams and starting over. I saw her out of the water last year, I believe, and I remember commenting on how fair the hull looked. She's a pretty boat.

I remember the first time I sailed against a Robb Lion. I was in my lee board sabot heading out to my boat when this Cheoy Lee Lion came speeding out of nowhere and laying a line between me and my boat. LIKE HELL, MAN! I flattened my sail and hung out on the rail, determined the big sleek, speeding Lion would not cut me off. Then, all of a sudden ...

Do go on, TS! I love to hear Lion stories (I have one).
