whilst driving to work. An elderly cane creel stuffed to the gills with gear, 2 fly reels, one a Shakespeare, a Mitchell spinning reel, boxes of I think hand tied flies, lures of various sorts, still packaged lines etc and a 14ft cane 3 piece rod of I think French manufacture but the label is very damaged. The rod will need renovating and re-hydrating I'd think before I'd be game to use it.
Also from the local charity shop "Tha Handbook of Sailing" by Bob Bond whoI think was an English America's cup sailor. Pub: Pelham, 1980, London. A bargain at $1.50.

Reasonable, but I haven't got out much this year. Been sailing instead. Most rivers and lakes are low anyhow.

Speaking of old cane rods. One of my cousins has one of Zane Grey's marlin rods from when he was out here in the 30s. Came across a photo of him (Zane) near the grandparent's place the other day.

For the purpose af adding to Skuthorp's knowledge of Bob Bond,he was the training manager for the RYA responsible for developing the RYA method.I was never convinced that calling the tiller a stick and the sheets ropes was sensible.Sooner or later people have to learn the real names.

Thanks John, I agree with knowing the right names, it can be the difference in an emergency or at night.
