For those not familiar with Australian military history, one of our battleships (light cruiser) went missing in WW2 and people are still looking for it.

Sydney found
THE wreckage of HMAS Sydney, sunk off the West Australian coast during World War II, has been found, Kevin Rudd announced today.
The Sydney's entire crew of 645 went down with the ship in the Indian Ocean in November, 1941, and its location has been a mystery for more than 66 years.
It was announced yesterday that the wreckage of the German merchant raider Kormoran - which is believed to have sunk the Australian warship - was found in waters about 800 kilometres north of Perth.

I've heard there was some sort of "Silence order" in force since the war, and extended and still in force since. Restricts access to official documents I think. I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is, why?

That didn't take long.
Only 66 years
