On my way to work, I saw a boat on a trailer at the side of the road with a "for sale - $200". These are almost always derelicts in terrible condition, but I always stop to look. To my wondering eyes appears a sweet-looking little powerboat that was obviously not pampered, but which shows no obvious signs of rot or any other major problems. It is a 16', low volume, two-hole speedboat type, with what appears to be a 60's vintage 50 HP Merc on the transom. The name plates on the dash read "Performance Marine" on the left, and "Flying Cloud 16" on the right. Construction seems to be some kind of 45% laid-up plywood over mahogany frames (and long expanses between frames, which troubles me a bit - looks almost like a monocoque design) I did a few web searches for this craft, and came up empty. Anyone here have any idea what I would be dealing with on this boat? Thanks.
