Bob Smalser, why did you delete your thread?
Having deleted it, why would you make the vacant claim that somehow you deleted it in the name of civility?
The thread was quite civil in my opinion.
Civility did not win. The iron fist of totalitarianism won.
You started the thread, you have the right to delete it, but at least admit it was done in the name of iron-fisted fascism, not civility.

I did not see Bob's thread , and would have read it had I seen it.
You made the comment that you thought that his comments were quite civil.
How on earth can there be any substance to accusing Bob Smalser of "iron fisted fascism" for deleting his comments.
You are losing credibility by using such silly hyperbole...

Ah, the good old days!
In memory of Ian Marchuk!
I learned from Ian and from Smalser.

I regret the absence of Bob, I remember his advice on many matters almost every time I'm in the shop and have much of it in print outs.

Same here, Jeff!
But it was his politics that inspired my post back then, not his craftsmanship or his deep knowledge of tools. If I had it to do again, I would not do it.

I know the bilge was set up to cope with such matters Glen but the casualties of the resulting rancour are a steep price to pay. The Forum is much the poorer.
