dragan,
I have been looking for such a book, never saw one on this subject of making longer masts only some pages in boatbuilding books but generaly very basic.
(this comment gets your question back in front hope someone comes up with a reply)

Find the WB article on 'bird's mouth' spars. That plus pulling the scantlings from Skenes will tell you anything you need to know.

The article will give a clue as to whom to call if you're really preplexed. For example, I can't remember if the article discussed optimal grain allignment.

What Ian says.

I can't imagine there being enough to say about building a hollow mast that there could be a book in it. Check out the free software on mast scantlings at www.carlsondesign.com (http://www.carlsondesign.com) . Scroll way down to: A pair of free mast design programs for round wooden masts - one to develop strakes for round masts and another to calculate mast size and strength for stayed and unstayed rigs based on sail area and wood types. The second program is by Robert Tyrrell.

if'n you send me the length (and proposed section if known) and displacement of the boat...beam..etc...I can make an attempt to put what little I learned at Westlawn to possibly some good use...........

I don't know of a book devoted specifically to spar building, but the following all have pages discussing the topic:

How to Build a Wooden Boat - McIntosh
Boatbuilding - Chapelle
Boat Joinery - Bingham
Boatbuilding Manual - Steward

I'm a bit late in posting this, but the following link from Lee Valley tools is very informative.
