Spirit of South Carolina - Tall Ship

The keel was laid this past June, and construction has begun. The location is in Charleston, SC, near where its twin was built over a hundred years ago.

We were there in June and no one seemed to know where the construction site was. We drove all over, and it occured to me that these South Carolinians didn't know where the Spirit of South Carolina was! Hey, I'm from South Carolina and I can say that! I went from one end of Calhoun (Sp) St. to the other --both ending on the water, and each time I asked I was sent to the other end of Calhoun!

Contact Harbor Specialties in Charleston on King Street. Susan Sanders had an article in her newsletter a while back.

Susan hails from Elizabeth City, NC, he ancestors owned the EC Shipyard where they produced plywood mine sweepers for the big WW. They were shipped to Norfolk via the Dismal Swamp Canal.

BTW, this week here in the Pasquotank, they raised a cannon from a Civil War ship that was sunk just south of out "Harbor of Hospitality"
