As usual no pictures, but I hope to have some when we launch.

I'm almost done, I can taste it...

All that's left is

A) - the copper plate that covers the breasthook and stem joint. The plan calls for a small half circle, but I'm probably going to get a little creative with it, maybe some kind of leaf design.
B) - The 1/2 half oval brass chafing strip for the keel.
C) - Mount the pintles on the rudder.
D) - Mount the four oarlock pads.
E) - Cap for the daggerboard trunk.
F) - The plans call for drilling holes in the sheer strakes near the stem for the painter. I made a bow eye instead, and just need to attach it.
G) - Finish the mast, then mount the rigging hardware.
H) - touch up the paint job.

I learned a few things about painting.
1) Ventilation is a good thing.
2) You probably shouldn't try to finish that last bit of painting at 1:00 in the morning. (See H. above)
3) You should probably vacuum up all of the wood chips from the power planer before you start to paint. (see H. above again!!)
4) Prepainting parts is probably a very good thing.
5) I hate bugs. Probably more than I hate epoxy. (See my progress post from June). In fact, I think that I've solved the problem with pesticides in our environment. Just have someone cover themselves in paint and run through the neighborhood. Every damn kamakaze bug in a 20 mile radius will fling itself into the paint. Then it might be safe to paint.

I should have this all done by Saturday when we leave for vacation. We will launch Saturday or Sunday when we get to the lake.
