I have had a bit of a search and also looked through some of my boatbuilding books but can't seem to find any specifics.

30' sailboat with new 1/2" hardwood ply deck over deckbeams on about 12" centers. I'm just going to hit it with glass cloth and epoxy rather than some of the other fabrics, so what weight glass is recommended?

Thanks,

Jonny.

you have already stated that you were going to use glass as opposed to other fabrics.....but i was going to suggest Xynole as it's far more abrasion resistant, glass will shatter and chip.......

Nothing less then 10oz 'glass and if you expect alot of heavy use/traffic double it up,laying the second 10oz cloth over the first followed by a nice thin laminating epoxy.
my .02 cents worth :)

WOW! Simultaneous time posting with Chuck......I'm honoured but do not entirely agree with his statement regarding 'glass "shattering and chipping",despite having looked for it in my last few boats,it never happened over the course of twenty years of Northern weathering :)
