It's not my kind of sailing.
You could spill your beer.

If you were the guy standing up on the rail you could spill your beer on someone else's head.

At least they got the 'chute in the air. For my first death roll we got it full of water and didn't come up - sheet way under water and the guy fouled - till I crept along the rail, dropped to the mast, and cast off the halyard.

Okay, I'll bite. Why is it called a yard sale?

Just think of all the shrimp you'll come up with. Been there, done that recently on Oh Joy. It was nice to see the cockpit stay dry with the spreaders from both masts in the water. Nothing like an unintended chute deployment in the midst of a 30 knot puff to get your attention.

"Yard sale" because unsecured things on deck and below fly everywhere, including overboard, during a broach like that and get spread all over creation. If you're following along when another boat does this you sometimes end up sailing through a 'raft' of a PFD or two, half empty beer cans, styrofoam cups or coolers, hats, etc. Even loose crew members!
