Lacking a book, haven't there been some good articles in WoodenBoat magazine on this subject?

You're looking at building a plank on frame half model, since the Folkboat is lapstrake planked. Can be done, but much more tedious and exacting than whittling a solid half model. (Hint... start with a carved solid half model deducted for plank thickness and attach the planks to that.) Should be a nice model. Mount it on a zero clearance mirror and it will look like a whole model.

If you are in fact looking to make a lapstrake half-model then one of the boat model-making books sold by the WoodenBoat Store might be helpful, but it does not seem like you would HAVE to make a lapstrake half model...

Greg Rossel's book, Building Small Boats, has a very good section on building half-models.Available from our hosts and a very good read
