As long as it stops before you get rickets or grow web toes you'll be fine.

We are starting to get a bit damp here on the Left Coast also...

Snow totals through the weekend are expected to be potentially historic, especially in California with as much as 2 to 6 feet expected, possibly more on the highest peaks. Up to a foot will fall down to valley floors. Two to three feet of snow will fall in the Cascades and inland across the mountains of Utah, Colorado, northern Arizona and northern New Mexico.
Wind gusts of 75 to 85 mph will be common across the southern Cascades, Sierra and western Nevada into the weekend. Ridge top gusts in the Sierra could peak between 100 and 145 mph. Wind gusts over 70 mph have already been clocked around Lake Tahoe.

Are you getting rain where you need it?
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Righto, thismorning I awoke to this, and now I'm worried:

                From the bathroom window:

The mango tree that the kayak is pictured underneath in the above post:

The river generally - It's flowing faster here than anyone could run and packed with debris:

The water level beside the fig tree pictured above that probably inspired P.I.'s "garden croc" question... and no garden croc's, just brown, smelly water:

Tops of the little Bangalow palms poking out - this means about 2 metres of water whereas yesterday was only 40cm:

Went for a walk and this is next door:

Took a few more shots but they're all a bit fuzzy, and now I'm just staying close to the house. The water looks like it's peaked for now as high tide is just under one hour away.

No Jim: We are not getting the rain where it's needed. Some rain has been falling in drought affected areas, but not enough to break it. They can have lots of ours here in the Tweed Valley... As much as they want!!!

Brown and smelly? from the cane-fields' run-off (fertiliser)? - all going out to sea on the reefs

Stand outside and blow really hard and perhaps the rain will make it to South Australia...

                        Duncan,
Thats a hell of a lot of water.
In Brisbane we missed the heavy rain, and so did the dams.
If we had the falls you had the water storage would be full again.
I follow the rainfall here 128 km Brisbane (Mt Stapylton) Radar Loop
I hope water levels have peaked for your area.

Wow, Duncan. Water from the sky - I want some. Just zip some up and email.
We had 60mm here a few days before xmas and everyone was cheerful for a while. Haven't seen a cloud for weeks. Now it's back to blistering heat and water carting again. The tomatoes are sunburnt (but delicious anyway). The best we can hope for is a trough of moist air from the lows in the top end, flicking a bit of rain here in a few days. I'm beginning to think I settled in the wrong bit of Oz. I hope the flood settles soon. At least your house looks sensibly high.

Well the water has peaked but has not gone down at all at this stage. It's now 11.27am and the level is still the same as it was at 6.30am. High tide was around 9am. So there's still several gazillion bucket loads in the system.

We had 300mm of rain in 3 hours last night!!!

Going to go for a drive soon and check things out further afield.
