It must be great to be able to afford to pay someone else to maintain your brightwork.

        Donn,

That boat is so beautiful, that the fish just swim up to her and jump into the cockpit.

Wow - she's just stunning. I think Mr. Hunt hit the boat design home run of all time with these Concordia's - sure would like to take a ride in one someday.

This really is a truly gorgeous vessel. Is she a new build or restored? She puts me in mind of some of the beautiful varnished yachts built here in Scotland at the (now closed) Mcgruers(sp?) yard at Roseneath.

Margo(?), you seem to be the local expert on Concordias, would you happen to know where I might find a picture of the Concordia 33'5 sloop (#34) featured in WB's 'Fifty wooden boats'?.

Or any similar smaller Concordias for that matter.

I'm not too mean to buy the book, but just curious.

              Cheers,
              Ruaridh.

Arapaho was built in 1961 and is #85 of 103 Concordias built in the 39' & 41' class. It was her bright-finished sister, Rennaissance (#88), that I first fell in love with and that ultimately led us to our project - Sarah #27.

Coincindentally, Dame of Sark is #86.

Although some have fallen into disrepair, all 103 still exist. Another owner, Vincent Panetta #31, is a Forumite. I suspect there's other owners out there in the "lurker class."

I just carry on about 'em a bunch, it hardly makes me the expert.

For info on the smaller ones, you can check with Concordia directly at www.concordiaboats.com or
                Mystic Seaport www.mysticseaport.org

Wasn't Arapaho one of the Concordias that appeared in the movie Message In a bottle? I thought it was for sale. Maybe shes being launched by her new owners,

Congratulations Dale! Go buy yourself a beer! On me!!

Arapaho was the Concordia used in the movie for the launch and then through the part where it gets sad.

She'd been for sale for a bit. We looked at her (not seriously) in April 2001, but a) we needed a second wooden boat like we need twelve dozen more holes in our head; and b) they weren't exactly giving her away

Her rightfully proud new owner contacted me through the website a while back. I sent him a link to this thread, and I've been hoping he'd step forward and take a bow!

Margo is a treasure, isn't she? It is indeed fun to have a fellow Concordia owner with so much enthusiasm for the class--it was SHE who contacted ME on the day of the launch.

Thanks to all for the kind comments. ARAPAHO's condition owes much to the continuous care of Brodie MacGregor (with hand on hull) and his Concordia yard--where she has nearly always been. Come by if you're in Padanaram--or if we cross paths at the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta in August.

And let's all eagerly await the photos of the launch of SARAH. Soon.
