Directions provided by our late lamented Norm Messenger.
"Or to put it another way:
Instructions for posting pictures
Photo to be posted must be on the web and in a site that allows cross posting. Many Forum users use www.imagestation.com (http://www.imagestation.com) . This is a free site which seems to have unlimited storage, large picture size, and unlimited albums.
Upload your pictures to ImageStation and create your albums or leave the pics in the in box as you wish.
Pictures in ImageStation are displayed in three sizes: thumbnail, display and original. Left click on the thumbnail brings up the display photo, about 640 bits X 400 or so. A left click on the display photo brings up the photo in the original size you uploaded. Forget this one, except in rare cases which I cannot explain it cannot be cross linked. So....
Left click on the thumbnail to show the display version.
Right click on this picture.
Left click "Properties".
Highlight the Address [URL] and copy it (Ctrl/C).
Now go to The Forum and prepare your new message.
Write what you want as a preamble to your picture, then:
Below the message area is a button, "IMAGE". Left click it.
Paste the URL you copied above into the block displayed.
Note that the block contains http already highlighted. Just paste without doing any thing else so you don't get http twice.
Add what ever additional text you wish to add after the URL of the picture is displayed.
Click on the "Preview Post" button to confirm that what you want us to see will appear, then close the window.
Click the "Add Reply" button and standby for responses."
Thanks Norm. ;)

There is also the "DIY" method.
Try www.picturetrail.com/ (http://www.picturetrail.com/) if the above service seems pushy or wants money.
Post images to picturetrail or whomever. Use your right mouse button to "copy image location" or something similar.
Paste it into the WB forum message area, then put some html code on either side of it. DONE!
I will use the correct "carrot" character at the front but can't quote them at the aft end or it will become html and invisible.
< img src=" yourimageURL " rightcarrotcharacter
the wise website will convert this to proper html code and your photo will magically appear!

Actually, there's no need to add your own html code. Just click the "Image" botton below the message box and past the URL in the popup box.
I use TinyPic (http://tinypic.com/)
No signup, fees or anything else. Just upload your pic, copy the URL and paste it in the image box. Takes about 30 seconds.
trying againnnnnnnn [IMG]http://file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HP_Owner/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/2005-09%20(Sep)-14/PICT0779.JPG[ /IMG]

That URL is STILL not on a server!!!!!!!
It is YOUR computer that is showing.
You have to MOVE the photos to Imagestation-PictureTrail- whatever and then use that URL to post here.
EXAMPLE:
http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL780/3097474/6292566/104293780.jpg
Sure I got TugboatDave's photo on my hard drive BUT I uploaded the image to PictureTrail and THAT is where it comes from to post here.
Check properties for that image and you will see what I am talking about.
Ya get my drift?

JMAC- I think you're trying to post an image that's still on your computer. You have to up load it to one of the image services (Imagestation works fine for me, no charge), and then get the properties from there. Check the properties of other pictures you see on the Forum. You'll see they all start out with a web address (XXX.com). Yours starts with a file location on your computer.
oops, Dave types faster than I do.

OK.... wait....I'm getting a clear image now.....it's a wooden sailboat!
A very nice wooden sailboat. smile.gif
Details man, we need details. ;)
The photo took about 10 minutes to upload. I have a dial-up connection. Is this par for the course or are there quicker ways?

Lovely boat! Tell us more...
Not many options with dialup, but use whatever photo software you have to shrink the picture to the minimum file size before transmitting.
If you have Photoshop, use the "Save for Web" option after making the Image Size 72dpi -- computer screens can't display anything with more dpi anyway.

TugboatDave!?! I lived right near him in Eagle Harbor. He on his gray on gray tug, me on a cutter. But that was 20 years ago on Bainbridge Island while he was working at a steel mill in Seattle and I as a photographer.
