I‘ll be honest:
This is not my boat.
This is not my project.
The real credits for building this boat have to go to my friend and boatbuildingmentor Koen de Gezelle. (and although he‘s not really an internetbrowsing-forumreading-cyberspacefanatic, you can mail him with comments and questions: airrow at telenet dot be )But I did spend every Saturday for half a year in the shop helping to build this beauty. So I put enough effort in the construction to earn the right to boast about her.

Very nicely made. Can you tell us about the design, especially the stern? Also, it would be nice to see pix of her being rowed both light and laden, maybe even triple banked. Hard to see for sure but I looks like the center station could use oars a few inches longer than the bow and stern stations.
Finastkind.

Looks so much like an older Australian SLS boat it's not funny: Nice job! Oar out the back as a rudder/tiller?

I've been told the design was inspired by Australian surfboats, although Tessa is much smaller. She has steambend, oak frames and is planked with larch. The stern is double layered, cedar and oak.
The oars of the center station are indeed a few inches longer. Usually there are only 2 people rowing. The bow seat has stations, but it was never really intended to use it otherwise than as a passengerseat. Rowing in that position is difficult because of the foredeck.

Very nice indeed. You don't see built-up oarlocks very often; those look particularly well done. And dovetailed thwarts... tres chic.

She is beautiful. I love the oarlocks also. Great job on the details.
When are we going to see photos of her being rowed?

I guess I'm just greedy..any pictures of her going out through those waves? Looks very capable. Not often you see a double with single oars. Reminds me a lot of a small Scilly Isles pilot gig.
thanks for sharing.

Stunning work. Congratulations to all. I'm guessing that the plumb stern provides push rather than lift from following waves when surfing.

WOW! A three man surfboard. I wish there was a close up of the faces of the two oarsmen hanging on back there.
Boating can be so much fun!

@ Adam:
After those pictures Duncan has posted, this is going to look a bit less impressive.
@Duncan:
I'm sure the boat is very capable, it's this particular crew I'm concerned about! :D
