View Full Version : Need Name for Electric Victor Slocum

My inboard electric motor launch "Victor Slocum" has now been removed from the construction jig (glued lap construction) and is sitting upright. Am now making sawn frames, seats, battery framework, trim, etc. and I need some ideas for a name for this little craft......something that would indicate the boat was electrically powered and preferably of the female gender.

I am really disappointed in the tremendous increase in battery prices........the Concord Lifeline GPL 4C (6-volt battery) is now $270 f.o.b. the factory which puts it at around $330 when you include freight and sales tax. I am planning to initially go with 24 volts with the ability to expand the battery framework to accomodate two more cells (36 volts) should it become necessary.

I second "Electra". Quiet Tune is the name of a well known sailboat ,but the name would suit a nice electric launch too .

John, look for any t-105 type golf cart battery. The battery guys will have them for a fair price.
I paid around 80 bucks for mine a couple of weeks ago.
Pound for pound and dollar for dollar they do the job.
Once you factor in charge cycles it just doesn't make sense for all the added expense.
I would only pay big bucks in 2volt cells, I think the numbers there could justify the expense.

Name her after your wife.
It's hard enough to get most womenfolk to buy into boats.
Every little bit helps.

An electric "Victor Slocum?" Why, "RCA VICTOR SLOCUM," of course. What else are you gonna call it if she's electric?

John asked me to put these up last week but I didn't get them until after I left for Christmas, sorry for the delay. Sweet looking boat!

Electra is good. And I think "Watt r Maid" is something that could be jazzed up with graphics.
