Hi,
I am trying to source cedar strips in the UK for this little project:

I have found a supplier in Bristol (http://www.robbins.co.uk/Pdf%20Files/pl1_bs_cedar_and_caulking.pdf) but I am unsure what thickness/width to select or what type of edge (Straigh, Bead&Cove or Tongue&Groove)

hi Jerome,
eh, for your project ...
as i understand: it is a construction in Britisch climate, not under a roof, partly burried in soil ... should drain water and keep sand in
children with metal digging tools play in it
and i imagine: light weight is not desirable, since it is not robust
so, for me:
(definitely) not wood core composite construction
not soft cedar, not bead and cove, not watertight, non of the offered strips
do you want it to look like wood? okay, you could look for wood that is used in garden ponds and screens
make a construction under ground that is sort of rot proof for ten years (hardwood like oak or azobe, or use whatever stones you have available)
and make a bare wooden construction above ground (oak)
i suggest: do not varnish or encapsulate in epoxy
does it need to be a curved, boat like shape?
you could look for a garden screen with hardwood strips and bend these strips over a frame
look for wood that is not treated against wood rot with poisonous (green) preservatives
hope this helps
Ben
