What do people think about Jet Speed Varnish? I have completely taken all the bright work down to bare wood and I'm ready to start varnishing.

JetSpeed varnish seems like a good way to build up 3-4 coats quickly, then start with a heavier "real" varnish later.

Thanks

I've had real good luck with Jet Speed. We did our rails some years back - stripped, re-coated with 2 coats JetSpeed in 1 day, then a light sanding, 2 more coats JetSpeed the next day and 2 proper coats of Spar Varnish with a light sanding between to finish (all from Interlux). With just one re-newal coat per year, it's held up now for 6 or 7 years. This is on White Oak.

Our normal routine with varnishing starting with bare wood is to thin the first coat of Jet Speed one third with turpentine. Two more coats are hot coated as soon as enough tac existists to not cause pulling. The surface is sanded with 220 when dry and seven coats of varnish of the owner's choice is applied, hot coating when practical. The last coat always goes on a smoothly sanded surface.
